A Historical Narrative (PDF) 1.4MB
The architects of the University of New Mexico developed the Spanish Pueblo Revival style, which came to dominate the architecture of the Southwest after World War I. Today the charming and picturesque early buildings of UNM that form the historic core of the campus are part of a crowded 600-acre urban campus in the center of Albuquerque. This grant will allow the UNM administration to survey cultural resources on the campus and adjacent community in preparation for nominations to the National Register of Historic Places and to develop a long-term preservation and revitalization plan for the campus.
University of New Mexico received a Getty grant in 2004 for $120,000 to support campus heritage planning.
