Philadelphia University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Philadephia University was originally established as The Philadelphia Textile Institute in 1884 as a division of the Pennsylvania Museum and School of Industrial Arts (now the Philadelphia Museum of Art). To meet the demand of a growing campus population over the last fifty years, the university has acquired 11 estates with 21 structures dating to the early 19th century. Funding will allow the university to study and document these historic resources, and to produce historic structures and historic landscape reports that will enable it to provide more effective stewardship and knowledgeable use of these estates.
Philadelphia University received a Getty grant in 2004 for $120,000 to support campus heritage planning.
